Dillon Motor Speedway will reschedule this Saturday’s Points Championship race to October 13th due to the flooding from the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
Dillon Motor Speedway owner, Ron Barfield, has made the decision to reschedule due to the closing of many major highways from flooding such as I-95, Highway 301, Highway 9, etc., since the storm in Eastern North Carolina and upper Eastern South Carolina. The Little Pee Dee River which runs directly behind the race track has flooded homes and all but a few major and secondary roads in the area. Families are having to be evacuated by boats with first responders. The speedway grounds have been opened since before the storm in case anyone needs to park their campers, motorhomes or trailers to higher ground. Dillon County and the surrounding counties are really hurting at the moment and they need help. This is one of the times when we need to back up the community and offer as much help as possible. President Trump will be in the area at the end of the week surveying the damage.
The race weekend of October 13th will consist of Late Model, Super Trucks plus all local classes for the final points races of the 2018 season. The Annual Fall Spectacular of Racing is scheduled to conclude the 2018 season on October 27-28th. Details on this annual event will be released in the coming weeks.
